Classic Drum Roasting vs. Fluid Bed Roasting

Fluid Bed Roasting

Fluid bed roasters are more efficient, with an even temperature throughout the bed. This means that your beans will roast more evenly and quickly, without any burning or charring on one end of the drum. This is because of a higher heat transfer rate than in classic roasters: hot air passes through the beans at high speed and gives them all a similar amount of exposure to heat. The result? No burnt edges or undercooked centers!

Fluid beds also produce less smoke and odor because there’s no open flame inside–just hot air passing through the beans at high speeds until they’re done roasting.
